About Tuesdai Noelle

In 2005, the vision of young collage artist and denim designer Tuesdai Noelle, of Designs by Tuesdai, emerged from urban hardship in the city of Detroit. Having been homeless and unemployment 18 months earlier, this urban princess delved into her creativity. In the kitchen, seated at an old wooden table, inspiration met opportunity and Tuesdai a true "diamond in the rough" began shining brighter than ever before. With determination and rhinestone in hand, her unique handcrafted designs were drawn on pre-washed recycle jeans. In that moment, Designs by Tuesdai became more than a collection of decorative denim. It's an outreach for the "everyday" girl.

Tuesdai has a special place in her heart for those who desire to look high fashion but simply cannot afford it. For this reason, she wanted to give the "everyday" girl an extraordinary opportunity, by allowing her the opportunity to mail in used jeans and have them re-designed by Tuesdai--and that's precisely what she did! She has certainly had her share of challenges and setbacks, while climbing the fashion industry ladder, yet she continues to make great strides. Truly a remarkable lady, a rising star in fashion, and a designer for the "everyday" girl, Tuesdai Noelle.

My Reflection

I'm an artistic person by nature. I love beautifying things whether on canvas or cloth. Expressing myself through a massive collage, or introducing paint and paper mache to each other just to see what they come up with. I discovered my love for art at the age of 15. I remember it like yesterday . . . I was sitting on the hardwood floor in my bedroom trying to figure out what I was going to do with my life. My thoughts were cluttered with the thousands of pictures cut from old magazines scattered all over my floor, making it really hard for me to focus on one particular thing.

My room had always been a reflection of how I felt inside. But that day . . . I really wished the way I felt had not been so visible. I felt forced to clean-sweep, organize! Thinking after my room was straight my thoughts would be too. As I began cleaning up my room ideas flooded my mind-free, flowing ideas. Suddenly, I started putting pictures from magazines, old albums, kid's folders, and candy wrappers on a big old black poster board that was buried under my bed.

By the time I finished cleaning my room . . . I had created a collage of emotions of things that showed my inner self. In that moment, through art, I saw my true reflection for the first time. It was gorgeous. From that day forth I began designing everything from walls to whales! (A Tuesdai Laugh) Well, maybe not whales, but I'm sure I could if given the opportunity. And although I've never considered my work as more than a reflection of myself, I still know that it too is a reflection of somebody else.
